Establishment of a Cooperative System to Foster Strategic Industries

in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province

-The intention to cooperate for the designation of bio-specialized complexes, including Jeonju University, Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province, three related organizations, and bio companies–

Jeonju University (President Park Jin-bae) announced that it will establish a cooperative system between universities, institutions, and companies to foster strategic industries in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province.

In the conference room of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Provincial Government Buildingon the 20th, Jeonju University President Park Jin-bae and Special Vice President Lee Hae-won, Governor Kim Kwan-young, Jeonju Mayor Woo Bum-ki, Iksan Mayor Chung Heon-yul, Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials President Ryu Seok-hyun, Jeonbuk Technology Commercialization Director Lee Sang-dae, Korea Electronics Technology Institute President Jung In-sung, JBLK LAB President Jang Bong-geun, and CEO of Enhancedbio,Kim Hong-joong signed an investment and business agreement.

The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Provincial Government said the two companies' investment agreements totaled 145 billion won, the largest ever for bio companies, and the agreement is expected to contribute greatly to the scale of the Jeonbuk bio industry along with bio companies that have attracted more than 100 billion won in large-scale investment.

President Park Jin-bae said, "We will create opportunities for win-win by establishing an organic cooperation system between local governments, industries, and universities, and Jeonju University will also actively cooperate and work together to select a bio-specialized complex in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province."

Kim Kwan-young, governor of Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province, said, "We are happy that institutions, companies, and universities can join together. Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province is becoming a base for the bio industry. We will actively foster the bio industry as a future industry in Jeollabuk-do in addition to designating a bio-specialized complex."

Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province will apply for a bio-specialized complex contest in February, attract excellent bio companies, establish a cooperative system with companies, institutions, and universities, and Jeonju University will also establish a cooperative network with each institution and support the performance of each institution.
