JJ Hotel Management Department Holds Parent Meeting
Communicate with Parents by Opening Group Chatroom
The Department of Hotel Management at Jeonju University (President Park Jin-bae) announced on the 6th that it held a meeting of parents of freshmen to introduce the department's vision and curriculum.
The hotel management department was the first at Jeonju University to provide a place to communicate directly with parents of freshmen at the individual department level so the meeting received great response from participating parents.
The faculty of the Department of Hotel Management introduced the entire college life in the department, including department vision, curriculum, teaching methods, and employment guidance, through a meeting of parents of freshmen at the Hotel Academy Room of Regional Innovation Hall in Jeonju University. They also took time to explain in detail the future direction of the department's development, including overseas employment programs and the opening of English tracks.
Jeonju University's Department of Hotel Management also opened a "Hotel Management Department Group Chatroom for Parents" where parents and faculty share various opinions to help freshmen adapt to college and department life. In the group chatroom, various information on the hotel management department was posted and shared for parents of freshmen who could not participate in the meeting.
One of the parents of the freshmen who participated in the meeting said, "I was curious about many things, such as the vision and career path of the department my child chose, and I was grateful to know more through this meeting, and it was good to feel the passion of the professors.
A parent of a freshman who received an introduction to the hotel management department through a group chatroom said, "I wanted to attend, but I couldn't go to school because it was a weekday, but thank you for opening a group chatroom and sharing the data together."
Jeonju University's Department of Hotel Management plans to continue operating the newly opened group chatroom according to the will of parents so that it can become a venue for communication between freshmen parents and professors.
Shim Young-guk, a professor of hotel management department, said, "We will always share and communicate with parents all information such as education, career, and employment, along with asking parents to trust us and send our precious children to our hotel management department."
Jeonju University's Department of Hotel Management pushed for on-site interviews in Singapore in February, with nearly 40 students employed at large overseas hotels in 2022 alone, with a total of 348 people succeeding in overseas employment.
The Department of Hotel Management also plans to run the International Hospitality Management, which provides 100% English classes for foreign students from the second semester of this year.
Ahn Se-gil, a professor of the hotel management department, said, "Our department plans to open an English track that recruits and operates international students from around the world from September this year to operate the department wider and more progressively, and this specific information will also be shared with parents."
To this end, Jeonju University's Department of Hotel Management is currently pursuing MOUs and contracts with European, North American, and Asian cooperative universities and consultants. Once the English track is established, it is considering integrating the curriculum with Korean students.
