Jeonju University (President Lee Ho-in) and the Jeonbuk Students' Association in Korea conducted Myanmar-sponsored "Sales of Love Lunch Box" to support Myanmar's democratization and support victims of Myanmar's military coup.

The three-hour event, which took place in front of Jeonju University Star Center from 11 a.m., was lined up with students, faculty, Jeonju City Hall and local churches, and local residents to cheer for the democracy struggle in Myanmar and buy traditional lunch boxes.

To prevent the spread of Covid-19, lunch boxes were sold in the form of drive-throughs, and some pedestrians purchased lunch boxes at the site after checking their fever and left messages of support for Myanmar citizens.

1,400 Myanmar traditional lunch boxes and 200 milk tea were sold out. The proceeds will be transferred to Myanmar to be used to purchase medicines and daily necessities.

"The current situation in Myanmar is getting worse day by day due to the military coup and the damage suffered by citizens is increasing," said a representative of the Jeonbuk Students' Association in Korea. He also said “The support, love and help of Korean citizens are a great comfort to Myanmar citizens.”

Currently, Myanmar's industrial base has collapsed due to a coup and many citizens have lost their jobs, cutting off their sources of income. In order for them to continue democratic protests and earn a living, outside support is desperately needed.

"To help Myanmar, we have prepared a sponsorship event in cooperation with the Myanmar Jeonbuk Student Association, Jeollabuk-do, and Jeonju City," said Kim Byung-ki, head of Jeonju University's International Exchange Center. "I hope Myanmar citizens and Myanmar students studying in Korea do not lose hope."

Meanwhile, Jeonju University is holding donations and consolation events to support Myanmar's democratization movement and help Myanmar students, and professors and graduates of the department of Korean literature gathered to deliver scholarships to Myanmar students.
