We Live Together as Cosmopolitans -

On the 10th, Jeonju University (President Park Jin-bae) visited a grape farm in Baekgu-myeon, Gimje, where about 50 international students are suffering from a shortage of workers due to the busy farming season, to help prune grapes.

This event provided an opportunity for international students from China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Myanmar to participate as volunteers and experience rural culture to help them supply and demand rural manpower suffering from a shortage of workers during the busy farming season.

Butuha (Department of Tourism Management),  a Vietnamese international student,  said,  "My parents in my hometown are also farming, so it was not hard because I worked happily with the heart of helping my mom and dad. I'm not good at farming,  but I'm so happy and proud to help the vineyard man with his difficulties".

The grape farmer said, "I was worried because there were no hands at the time of the vine pruning, but I was relieved by adding hands. Students from other countries may not be able to make time for various reasons, so I really appreciate their help".

Meanwhile, Jeonju University operates volunteer activities for international students six times a year to contribute to the local community.
