JJ Department of Game Contents, Global Game Challenge (GGC), 2021 Grand Prize


Jeonju University announced that the "MOA" team of the Department of Game Contents, a department of participation in the project of the University of Realistic Media Innovation, won the "GGC Award-Exolacostar Award" at the "Global Game Challenge 2021" held online from December 15 to December 17.


The "Global Game Challenge 2021" is an event hosted by the Global Game Challenge Organizing Committee and sponsored by the Presidential Job Committee, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Education, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and the Korea Creative Content Agency. This is an event where students majoring in games and youth companies can experience and play various contents created in online spaces.


The competition is an online platform virtual exhibition (www.k-game.org), consisting of game planning, game programming, game graphics, game music, and game services, and 80 game-related universities and start-ups from all over the country participated and 20,000 people visited.


“MOA”, composed of fourth-year students (Lee Joonseop, Kwon Seohee, Kang Bumjoon, and Bae Changmin) from Jeonju University, won the Grand Prize-El Solar Rockstar Award, is an adventure game in which the dog Moa, who died of animal abuse, is reincarnated in the afterlife and leaves.


The game has a well-equipped storyboard that intersects the animal and human worldviews. In addition, it was evaluated for its high completeness in many ways, including various levels of puzzle difficulty, simple operation methods, background screens and music.


Professor Park Kyungsoo, head of the Department of Game Contents, who coached students, said, "Our department has an optimal hardware environment for game production and creates an atmosphere where students can develop games creatively by giving autonomy." He also said, "I'm proud of my students who worked hard to develop graduation games, and I'm so proud of winning the grand prize by submitting the results to this competition."


Three out of four fourth-grade students from the "MOA" team who won the grand prize in this competition succeeded in getting a job before graduation, one of whom joined Netmarble and is drawing attention both inside and outside the school.


Meanwhile, Jeonju University's Department of Game Contents, History and Culture Contents, Tourism Management, and Culture Convergence Contents are participating in the project group of Jeonju University's College of Realistic Media Digital Innovation and they are operating various courses and projects, majoring in convergence between departments, with the aim of fostering talent to lead the Metabus era.
