Jeonju University Taekwondo Major, Perform Taekwondo to Help Children with Childhood Cancer

Jeonju University Taekwondo Major, Perform Taekwondo to Help Children with Childhood Cancer
- Donating 1.85 million won, support for the treatment of children suffering from childhood cancer and leukemia -


On the last 14th, Jeonju University announced that it held a ‘Taekwondo Performance to Help Children with Childhood Cancer’ at JJ Art Hall in Jeonju University.


Taekwondo major in sport coaching department in Jeonju University (Dean Kwang-geun Choi), under the theme of ‘Fire school,’ conducted a talent-giving Taekwondo performance prepared with senior students and donated the entire 1.85 million three thousand won to the Green Umbrella Children Foundation. Donations are supported for the treatment of children with childhood cancer and leukemia and Santa Claus activity.


This performance was the sixth performance and sold out a week before the performance as its excellence, fun, and warm purpose became known.


Jeonju citizen who watched the performance said that “I am happy to see touching performance about the firefighter and his family, and to do something good to help children with childhood cancer. I have a pleasant and warm year-end with my family.”


The professor of Taekwondo in sport coaching department in Jeonju University, SookKyung Lee said that “At the end of the year, we wanted to prepare a taekwondo performance for locals to enjoy and share the warmth with neighbors in need. We are happy to share and deliver love with neighbors through taekwondo and will continue to carry out various taekwondo activities for the community.”


Following the performance, the taekwondo performance team delivered a development fund to Jeonju University. The taekwondo performance team announced that it will donate the first place prize of the Taekwondo performance contest organized by the Korea Taekwondo Association (KTA), 10 million won in total, and use it to promote arts and performances for the community and physical activities of disabled students later.


Meanwhile, Taekwondo major in Jeonju University is operating various performances and programs to promote local culture, arts, and tourism in North Jeolla Province, and “Fire-Fighter: Life of Firefighter,” a performance that won the first place in ‘the first taekwondo performance contest,’ has been selected as a Korean tourism content and will be introduced as a permanent feature in 2020.
