Jeonju University, Successfully Finished Smart Device Startup Camp in North Jeolla Province - for youths in North Jeolla Province, support cultivating talented youths in ICT smart devices - Jeonju University said that it hosted the “J-cube opened startup education smart device startup camp” at Ramada Hotel in Gunsan for three days from July 30 to August 1. This camp, collaboratively organized by Jeonju University and the Jeonju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Institute, was conducted with about 30 high school and university students in North Jeolla Province, and was designed to discover excellent ideas in ICT smart devices and cultivate talents in line with the fourth industrial revolution. At the camp, students learned about 3D printing, unplugged coding, aduino, sensor, and aduino coding, and participated in an idea contest using this application technology. Through the examination of the excellence and business feasibility of various ideas in the contest, Aiman team (senior in Wansan high school, Byeongcheon Kang) won the best award, and Ringuard team (senior majoring in construction engineering in Jeonju University) won the second place in the award. Teams that won awards will be provided a support of ICT device lab Jeonju producing outstanding ideas (10 million won), opportunities to participate in national contests, and follow-up programs such as mentoring. Jeonga Ju, the president of Jeonju University’s Startup support group, said that “we will support various programs to help students not only from Jeonju University but also from North Jeolla province having a high understanding of ICT sector technologies.” Jeonju University has been hosting a smart device startup camp for four years since 2016, and besides, it runs various programs, including middle and high school startup education, selecting students with startup talent admission system, college startup courses, regular startup courses, and startup camp, to nurture outstanding talents and support startups.
