Kyungmin Yu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Korean Language Education, Jeonju University, in Korea. In 2004 she received a Ph. D. in Korean from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul. In Jeonju University, she has been teaching such courses as Middle Korean grammar, Theories of teaching Korean grammar, Korean lexicology, Teaching Korean as a foreign language, etc. 

In 2012 she received a 3-year grant from National Research Foundation of Korea for ‘A study on Bible translations in Korea and Korean Bibles.’ In this study, she analyzed translations of Korean Bibles from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century, and its attested its historical significance on the Korean language. She concentrated on the vocabulary and style in translated Bibles, and wrote articles on the relations among the Korean vernacular, Sino-Korean vocabulary, and the hybrid script (a mix of Korean Hangul and Chinese characters).  

In 2020, Prof. Prof. Yu was chosen as one of "Young Researchers' Programs" from National Research Foundation of Korea, and is now studying on the transliteration in the early source texts in Korean Bibles. This study is comparing the mutual influence among Korean, Chinese, English, and Hebrew Bibles. More recently, Prof. Yu is examining the relation between the linguistic study of Korean by Western missionaries and the early foundation of Korean grammar. By observing a rather rapid process by which Western missionaries acquired Korean, Prof. Yu is also searching for the best methods in Korean language teaching as a foreign language, and the best preparations for TOPIK(Test of Proficiency in Korean).
