Jeonju University's Department of Hotel Management signed a business agreement with San Diego State University's International Exchange Center to revitalize the English tracks and international exchanges ahead of the opening of Jeonju University’s English track degree program in September, 2023.


The Department of Hotel Management at Jeonju University announced at 11 a.m. on the 28th that it signed a business agreement with Brian Blake, the Director of the International Exchange Center at San Diego State University, to revitalize the English track and exchange students, professors, and culture.


The Department of Hotel Management at Jeonju University agreed with the San Diego State University International Exchange Center to actively conduct international exchanges, including cultural exchanges such as exchanges of undergraduate and graduate students, professors, and short-term student training.


Mr Blake, director of the San Diego State University International Exchange Center, said at the signing ceremony, "The recent Korean Wave is great in American society," adding, "I think it is a good opportunity for our San Diego students to experience Korean culture and look forward to active exchanges with Jeonju University."


Shim Young-guk, a hotel management professor at Jeonju University who is preparing the English track program for International Hospitality Management, said, "Our department will open and operate English tracks in earnest from September this year."


International exchanges with Jeonju University's Department of Hotel Management are expected to take place from September when the English track with the Department of Hotel Management begins.


Mr Blake gave a special lecture on "Hotel Trends and Hotel Management Strategies Around the World" to hotel management students at Jeonju University after the business agreement ceremony.


In the special lecture, Mr Brian said, "Let's become a hotelier with a global mind and an active spirit of challenge and grow together as leading global talent in the hotel industry."


Mr Blake is a top experienced and practical educator in the U.S’s. hotel tourism industry who served as deputy manager of Forte Hotel in the U.S. and general manager of Accor Group North America, vice president of Trigild Group, and education advisor to the Marriott Group.


Professor Michael of Jeonju University’s Hotel Management department said, "Brian of San Diego State University is very interested in hotel field education for students from both institutions because he has extensive hotel experience in North America, and in this regard, it is completely in line with the direction our department is pursuing."


Founded in 1897, San Diego State University is well-known as a prestigious university in California, consisting of seven colleges, including the College of Business, the College of Arts, and the College of Vocational Research.


Jeonju University's Department of Hotel Management plans to actively engage in international exchanges such as student, professor, and cultural exchanges after opening their English track within the University's Hospitality & Tourism Management department.


To open the English Program the Department of Hotel Management at Jeonju University has developed additional curriculum, native foreign professors, and opened an English track website, and is working with Jeonju University International Exchange Center to recruit students from around the world.
