JJ Department of Art Psychotherapy and English Literature Department 'English Track' opened

Recruitment of foreign students for undergraduate and master's courses from the second semester of 2023

Jeonju University (President Park Jin-bae) Department of Art Psychotherapy and English Language Department have been designated as departments to open English tracks and will recruit foreign students for undergraduate and master's courses from the second semester of 2023.

The English track is a process of separately setting recruitment units as freshmen, exchange students, transfer students, master's and doctoral programs, and verifying and selecting English skills at the time of admission, and refers to a 100% English-language academic unit. If a non-English-speaking foreign student applies for an English track, the required English grades are TOEFL IBT 71 and IELTS 5.5 or higher.

The English track of the Department of Art Psychotherapy consists of music therapy, dance/motion therapy, and expression art therapy, and will be in charge of Professor Kim Dong-min, Professor So Hye-jin, and Professor Ko Kyung-soon. All three faculty members earned master's and doctorate degrees in the United States, as well as working at U.S.-based hospitals, special schools and counseling centers for many years. The department acquires not only theoretical learning but also treatment and practical skills for foreign students selected for the English track, and provides clinical practice in various fields.

Foreign students selected for English tracks analyze and evaluate various literary genres such as poetry, drama, and prose, and receive education in English specialties such as critical thinking, theoretical learning, cultural understanding, and business English. In addition, high-quality English classes using digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, and metaverse are also provided. The departments include Professor Shin Dong-jin, Professor Hwang Yo-han, Professor Park Chae-yoon, and Professor Alison, all of whom are highly professional and have excellent educational skills. Professor Hwang Yo-han is currently the head of the Center for Corporate Cooperation at <Cultural Content Convergence Metaverse ICC> as part of the Link LINC 3.0 project at Jeonju University.

Professor So Hye-jin of the Department of Art Psychotherapy said, “Although there have been many social changes due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, many people still need psychological support through art. Our department consists of faculty members who can cultivate global talents who can act as art psychotherapists anywhere in the world.” Shin Dong-jin, a professor of English literature, said, "The opening of an English track in the English literature department that fosters global talent is to educate people around the world, which will be the first step in fostering future talents suitable for the era of internationalization."
