Community-sponsored songpyeon and daily necessities.

Jeonju National University's Institute of International Exchange announced on the 16th that it held a Chuseok songpyeon and daily necessities sharing event for foreign students.

The event was sponsored by Jeonju University Social Service Center, The Onnuri Church (Chief Pastor Jeong Yong-bi, Kim Jong-hong), and Plus Construction (CEO Na Chun-kyun) to encourage foreign students to cheat and soothe the loneliness of holidays in other countries. Due to COVID-19, demonstrations of folk games such as yutnori, jegichagi, and tuho, which were held every year, were omitted.

Jeonju University Social Service Center supported handmade soap sets, drinks, and masks of the International Exchange Center made by enrolled students as volunteer work. Also, The Onnuri Church provided 250 songpyeon worth 1 million won, while Plus Construction provided 200 sets of COVID-19 quarantine kits to 500 international students who participated in the event.

Kim Byung-ki, director of the International Exchange Institute, said, "The help of local communities and volunteer organizations in a difficult and lonely time for foreign students will help enhance the national image beyond our universities and communities."

Meanwhile, Jeonju University has 1,500 students, including undergraduates, graduate students, and trainees, and plans to establish a stronger international student support system through continuous cooperation with the local community to help foreign students study abroad successfully.
