Jeonju University's Department of Korean Literature (Dean Baek Jin-woo) will conduct four weeks of online training with the Korean Language Department at Yeonbyeon University in China from July 5th (Monday) to 29th (Thursday). The Chosun Language Department of Yeonbyeon University boasts a high level of recognition by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

Since 2018, the two departments have been conducting Korean language education practical training in China every summer vacation. Last year, due to the COVID-19 situation, the practical training could not be carried out, but this year, it was agreed to resume the practical training using the online platform. Through this training, Jeonju University students expect to gain experience in teaching foreign learners, while Yeonbyeon University students expect to gain experience in taking high-quality classes from native prospective teachers. For this training, Jeonju University Department of Korean Literature selected six students who completed the Korean language education course. The selected students prepare customized teaching plans in advance through the guidance of their professors. In this training, 70 first-year students of the Chosun Language Department at Yeonbyeon University will be guided by "Beginner of Korean Speaking" and "Writing Korean Play Scripts."

Professor Park Hyun-jin, who is in charge of specializing in Korean literature and Korean language education, said about the significance of the online practical training, "With interest in Korean culture and Korean language growing worldwide, this online practice will be a meaningful example to replace offline practical training." Jeonju University's Department of Korean Literature is the four-year university in Jeollabuk-do to operate a course to train Korean teachers, and if you complete a designated course, you can obtain a certificate of Korean language teacher (second grade) upon graduation. Through this process, it produces about 10 new Korean teachers every year.
