The Hotel Management Department of Jeonju University, Marriott International Hotel Group Human Resources Division Invited Simulated Interview

Four executives of Marriott International Hotel Group's human resources department visited Jeonju University's hotel management department for a simulated interview.

The simulated interview, which was held at the Jeonju Regional Innovation Center on the 25th, was conducted by Kim Seok-joo, general director of Marriott Korea, Choi Jeong-eun, director of JW Marriott Seoul, Lee Eun-ryeong, director of Courtyard Marriott Pangyo, and Shin Bong-kwon, head of JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square's human resources team.

The head of the human resources team conducted simulated interviews with junior and senior of the hotel management department, including self-introduction and English speech, and delivered know-how in hiring procedures, applicants' cautions, jobs, and career paths.

It is a rare opportunity for undergraduate students to meet one-to-one executives of the Human Resources Department of the World Hotel Chain to talk and practice interviews. Students had valuable time to fill out resumes, identify their current situation and career paths through interviews, and appeal their strengths. Marriott International was also able to meet students in person and lay the groundwork for recruiting new global talent at a time when demand for travel is exploding after the Corona vaccination.

"Jeonju National University is a university that raises talented people with international language skills, service mind, and practical skills that Marriott International wants," said Kim Seok-joo, general director of human resources. He also said "After Corona, travel demand will continue to grow steadily, and Marriott is investing in new hotels and trying to recruit talented people in line with it".

Tae Han-yong (junior), a hotel management student at Jeonju University, said, “There were concerns about getting a job, but it was reassuring to meet the personnel managers of the world's largest hotel chain and conduct interviews in person. It was also motivating to get advice on the characteristics, necessary skills, and career directions of the hotel department througt simulated interviews”.

Meanwhile, Jeonju University's Department of Hotel Management has a world-class hotelier training program, including a joint curriculum with renowned overseas universities and hotel chains, a hotel-linked hands-on program and an English curriculum. In addition, they consistently produce overseas hotel workers every year, and as of 2020, more than 320 graduates are active in overseas hotel planning and marketing, human resources, customer management and food and beverage departments.
