JJ expands CPR education for students and faculty members.

All students will be required to complete CPR education from next year.

Jeonju University (President Park Jin-bae) announced that it is providing first aid education for students and faculty, including Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Jeonju University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Jeonbuk branch of the Korean Red Cross on October 11 and is pushing for professional first aid education such as CPR to be regularized and stable.

The Non-Curriculum Education Support Center (Center Director Shin Sook-kyung) has conducted the CPR program for prospective teachers, including students who have completed teaching education, every semester for four years since it first started in 2019. However, from this second semester, education was expanded to medical school students in consideration of the needs of the working field for CPR, such as the field of health and rehabilitation

The CPR program, which involves 600 to 700 students every year, will also be operated in the second semester of the 2022 school year. It will be operated for students from the College of Education from November 2nd (Wed) to 4th (Fri), and for students from the College of Medicine from November 7th (Mon) to 10th (Thu).

Kang Geum-ho (senior), a Chinese literature education student at Normal University who participated in the CPR class on November 2nd (Wed), said, "This practice was meaningful to learn how to cope with emergencies. In the event of an emergency, I will take the lead based on what I have learned”. Jeong Myung-ho (junior) of the Department of Special Education in Secondary School said, "I realized once again the importance of CPR due to the Itaewon disaster, and I think this education will help me cope with emergency situations properly."

Shin Sook-kyung, center director of the Non-Curriculum Education Support Center, said, "We agree on the importance of CPR to save lives, and we will expand CPR education to all students of Jeonju University, not just students from certain colleges, and reflect it as a graduation requirement from 2023."

In addition, more than 60 people, including the president and faculty, attended the training on CPR on October 14 and 28 to increase the survival rate of students and secure safety in universities by improving their ability to cope with emergencies.

At the request of faculty members, additional CPR training will be conducted in November, and it will also consider expanding education to all faculty members in the future.
