Celebrating Hangeul Day, "Foreigners Challenge! Korean Golden Bells" Will Be Held.

It was held with the aim of encouraging foreign students to learn Korean.


In commemoration of the 574th anniversary of Hangeul Day, the "Challenge for Foreigners! Korean Golden Bell" event was held at the seminar room on the eighth floor of Jeonju University's faculty research building from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 8.


Organized by the Korean Language and Culture Institute of Jeonju University, the event was held to provide an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Korean language and Hangul on Hangeul Day and to encourage international students to continue to pay attention to Korea and Korean culture, thereby encouraging them to learn Korean.


The event was attended by 50 pre-selected international students before the event, and was conducted in compliance with the Corona 19 quarantine guidelines. When entering the seminar room, he wore a mask as a necessity and completed body heat measurement, hand disinfection, and visit diary.


"Challenge! Korean Golden Bell" is a competition for foreigners to compete against Korean language and Hangeul according to the way KBS-1TV's challenge Golden Bell is conducted. In addition, when the host asked the questions, the participants wrote down the answers they thought were the correct answers on the personal blackboard and held them overhead.


Kim Min-jung and Lee Dae-yong from the Korean Language and Culture Institute were in charge of the hosting. The quizzes are based on Korean spelling, standard language, spacing, local language, culture and character of Jeollabukdo, and common sense of Korean culture. In the middle of the competition, the wrong answers such as bean sprout soup rice, bibim guksu noodles, and bibimbap were made to make the atmosphere of event hall more pleasant.

A total of six students, including one Korean master, two Korean love awards and three Korean guardian awards, were awarded a total of 1 million won in prize money. The Korean master's award was awarded to Dim Tinyi, a Vietnamese national, the Korean love award to Nguyen Thi Tien, the Palm Hongban, and the Korean journal Kim's prize to Hwang Ttit Oung, Nguyen Tien, and Tzu Ung Tae-seon.
