Jeonju University, Degree Grant Ceremony and Entrance Ceremony Cancellation as ‘All-out Efforts to Prevent Spread of new Coronavirus’

Jeonju University is responding quickly by adjusting its academic schedule to prevent the spread of new Coronavirus infections.

The planned degree-giving ceremony, entrance ceremony, orientation for new (transfer) students, and the entire teaching staff training were cancelled, and the planned events and programs were also postponed indefinitely after catching Coronavirus. In order to prevent confusion between parents and new (transfer) students, the university will guide them on online, including academic and scholarship programs, course enrollment, and college life.

To prevent infection among members, all faculty members are required to wear masks, and the civil service department keeps hand sanitizers and a thermometer at all the times and guides them on infection prevention.

Student promotional ambassadors are also stepping up efforts to spread the ways to prevent infectious diseases. They will post videos of Coronavirus infection prevention on online channels and put attachments on the campus to promote and prevent Coronavirus.

Chinese students coming from China will also be tracked down in real time, so all students coming to South Korea from not only Hubei Province but also all provinces in China will be quarantined for two weeks at separate facilities designated by university from the date of their return. Overseas exchange programs and students who visited China privately during vacation are also closely tracked.

Jeonju University staff said that “For Preemptive measures, the university is also considering postponing the start day of the semester and inspecting the online lecture system in prevention of the rapid spread of the new Coronavirus. We will make efforts to prevent infection of our members and protect the health of our students and concentrate on their studies.”
