The 15 foreign students, who were selected through the preliminary match, are matched one-to-one with members of the Korea Poem Readers Association for three months to learn and recite Korean poetry.

At the main event, which announced its three-months achievement, Cherenchimatt (second year of Korean Literature) and Heekyung Seo (Wansan-gu, Jeonju) won the grand prize by reciting “The Advice of Genghis Khan.”

The head of the judging panel (the representative of Korea Poem Readers Association, Hwagyeong Lee) evaluated by saying that “it felt as if I was looking at a site in the past, as it was carried out with a costume and voice matched with the words ‘the advice of Genghis Khan’.”

The poetry reading contest foreign students is a model of guidance for foreign students in cooperation with universities and local communities, expanding the emotional aspect of understanding the sentiments of Korean language and culture contained in ‘poetry’, which are focused only on the functional aspects of students studying abroad.
