Jeonju University, Mural Painting Volunteer Activities in Seomyeon Village, Muju-gun

-For five days, a peach blossom flower garden and an aquarium are drawn in the wall of Seomyeon Village -

Students from Jeonju University had turned the wall of Seomyeon Village in Muju-eup into a beautiful gallery.
Fifty students from Jeonju University Central Organization Federation visited Seomyeon Village, located in Muju-eup, Muju-gun, to paint murals as a volunteer activity for five days from the last 24th.
Seomyeon Village is a small village of 150 generations located in Muju-eup, Muju-gun, North Jeolla Province, and on the side of Gumgang, which is the river. The students painted peach blossom flower that never have gone on the wall of the village, famous for this peach blossom flower. Also, they draw in ‘aquarium’ style to blend in with the riverside village and old people’s favorite flowers.
The wall where students painted murals for five days is a total of 150 meters in 8 locations.
The process of painting murals was not easy due to the early heat wave and the effect of rainy season in the southern region. Students worked from dawn until late at night to avoid the scorching heat, and had to put vinyl on the entire wall to protect it from the rain.
Seongho Kim, the president of the student union in Jeonju University, said that “No students majored in art and the news of the sudden rainy season made the plan hard at first, however, after seeing the older people like the mural, we started painting murals even harder. Since I was attached to the village, I really want to revisit Seomyeon Village later.”
The head of Seomyeon Village said “Thank you to the students of Jeonju University for painting bright and beautiful murals, and they were polite and well-mannered, giving the village an energy for five days.”
For five days, while Jeonju University students stayed in Seomyeon Village for five days, they are not only volunteered to paint murals, but also became a vital source for a small rural village by eating with the villagers, attending the talent show, and caring  the environment.
