Jeonju University Taekwondo Performance Team, has achieved ‘Significant’ effect of attracting Chinese Tourists

- Performed Taekwondo in Silk Road International Leisure Exhibition in Xian, Shaanxi province in China -

The Ssaulabi, a Jeonju University’s Taekwondo performance team, performed to boost domestic tourism for Chinese which have recently been recovering. Jeonju University’s Taekwondo performance team drew the attention of Chinese people by staging a taekwondo demonstration at the Silk Road International Leisure Exhibition in Xian, Shaanxi province, organized by the Korean Tourism Organization from last 28^th to 1^st.

Taekwondo is already loved and adopted as a subject for high school entrance exams in China. In order to develop taekwondo related travel contents and attract Chinese tourists on the back of the fame of taekwondo in China, the Korean Tourism Organization has invited Jeonju University’s taekwondo performance team, “The Ssaulabi,” to perform and demonstrate taekwondo.

Sook-kyung Lee, a professor of taekwondo, said that “Based on taekwondo, which is specialized in Jeollabuk-do, we are attracting many tourists and making continuous profits through educational camps and demonstration performances. In this year, we will try hard to attract more tourists to Jeollabuk-do and improve the student employment rate by promoting start-ups in the university.”

Meanwhile, Jeonju University taekwondo performance team, which started as a startup organization supported by LINC+ business, has won the World Taekwondo competition every year, and is recognized both internally and externally, and has been promoting Korea and taekwondo around the world through its vigorous performances at home and abroad.
