Jeonju University, Providing Free Medical Treatment ‘Healthy Study Abroad Support’ for International Students

Jeonju University provided free medical treatment for about 150 international students with Bridge Medical Association (BMA) on 30th.

On the day of the visit, there were 15 professional medical staffs, including Sungnam Jeong (the director of Gwangju Top Orthopedic) in Bridge Medical Association, dental, medicine, nursing, and pharmacy students, and about 80 volunteers. The students were examined by various specialists, including surgery, internal medicine, family medicine, orthopedics, radiology, and dermatology, and received prescription and medicine according to symptoms.

Translators from different countries also participated for accurate diagnosis and prescription. It also provided systematic treatment for students who needed continuous counseling and treatment with local hospitals.

Jeonju University institute for international education (Director Inpyung Ryu) has invited professional medical staffs four times a year since three years ago to provide a free medical treatment service with the goal of ‘Healthy study abroad support’.

The international student Wolgaarman (Mongol) in Jeonju University said that “I could not go to the hospital by myself even when I was sick because I had trouble communicating with a doctor. I have been able to stay healthy and concentrate on studying since they regularly came and provided free treatment.”

Sungnam Jeong, a director of Bridge Medical Association said that “The number of international students is increasing, but many reasons do not allow everyone to receive medical benefits,” and continued to say that “It is a small talent, but I am happy to share it to improve their health, and I hope it will help students to achieve their goals.”

Meanwhile, Jeonju University has signed agreements with six medical institutions around the university to support the medical expenses of international students to help their healthy study abroad experience.
