Japanese IT Company CAL Visited Jeonju University to Recruit Outstanding Talent

- The department of Japanese Language and Culture at Jeonju University gets a love call from Japanese companies every year… a competition to take talent -

On the 11th, Honda Ryota, the head of human resources at CAL, a Japanese IT mid-sized company, visited Jeonju University to recruit outstanding talent. It was to proceed a final interview with students from the Japanese language and culture department who passed the first and second admission tests.

CAL is a leading IT company in Japan with offices in major cities such as Tokyo, Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Nagoya, and is visiting the Japanese language and culture department at Jeonju University every year to find outstanding talent. It is the fourth visit since 2016.

Hondaryota, a human resources manager, said “Jeonju University seems to be running the most innovative convergence program in Korea,” and continued to say that “Jeonju University students are good at English as well as Japanese, and have all basic skills required for the IT industry, including JAVA/C language.”

Since 2016, Jeonju University has opened a ‘Japanese IT convergence major’ at Superstar College, which is a convergence and integration course. The Japanese language and culture department and smart media department combine majors to foster suitable IT programmers with global capabilities. Students who have completed their major are given two dual degrees: Global IT engineering and literature history.

Kang hoon Park, a professor of the Japanese and IT convergence major, expressed his pride by saying that “At first, I many people opposed and questioned the fusion of humanities and engineering, but now our department has become the leading department in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

In fact, every year after the establishment of the Japanese and IT convergence major, there is a steady increase in the number of students who are employed by Japanese IT companies, and the satisfaction level of their classes is also high.

On the other hand, the Japanese language and culture department at Jeonju University has specialized in the fields of hotel tourism and aviation services in addition to the Japanese and IT convergence major. Every year, the Japanese hotel industry also visits Jeonju University to recruit talented people.

Due to such efforts, the Japanese language and culture department at Jeonju University ranked the first in Honam and Jeju provinces by recording the competition rate of 8.8 to 1 in 2019.
