Jeonju University, Dedicate to Train Global Leaders with Multilingual Skill

- The second time in this year, hosting the JapaneseEnglish multilingual speech contest -

 

The department of Japanese language literature in Jeonju University held the second ‘Jeonju University, JapaneseEnglish multilingual speech contest’ on the 6th.

Jeonju University sets multilingual skills that use more than one language in addition to the native language as the basic skill of global leaders, and holds the multilingual speech contest every year to train talents who are compatible in the global era.

 

The theme of the presentation was consisted of various and interesting topics such as ways to improve the relationship between Korea and Japan, differences and commonalities between Korean and Japanese cultures, the Fourth Industrial Revolution (AI), and Japanese.

Haneol Kang (Japanese language literature department), who won the award, said that “I am currently attending IT and JapaneseEnglish Multilingual classes in the department with the goal of becoming an IT engineer in a foreign country. Through this contest, my dream of becoming a next generation global leader in the Fourth Industrial Revolution seems to be approaching to my real life.”

A second foreign language besides English helps students to perform their skills on the international stage. The department of Japanese language literature in Jeonju University, which specializes in overseas employment, operates a curriculum that allows students to acquire both Japanese and English at the same time. Jeonju University develops the Immersion teaching method to teach English using Japanese as a medium, breaking the existing tool of teaching Japanese and English separately.

Kang hoon Park, a professor in Japanese language literature department who runs a multilingual program, said that “Our society is rapidly changing into a multilingual and multicultural society. Multilingual skill is the best weapon in the international community that can double your abilities.”

Due to the effect of multilingual education, every year, nearly 20 graduates of the department of Japanese language literature in Jeonju University are employed as full-time employees by foreign companies.
