The department of Taekwondo in Jeonju University, Conquer the World with Taekwondo’s Field of Breaking

The department of Taekwondo (supervisor Suk-kyung Lee) in Jeonju University achieved excellent results by winning the first place in the overall breaking field in both domestic and abroad parts at the 2018 World Taekwondo Hanmadang held at Halla Gymnasium in Jeju Island from the last 28th to October 1.

Joonhee Park (Jeonju university’s coach) and Ho-seop Tae (major in Taekwondo ’14) performed high level Taekwondo skills and won the first place with the top scores from each national part and international part.

Nine students including Jeong-in Kim (major in Taekwondo ’15) were ranked third in the Korean team competition, and In-wook Lee (major in Taekwondo ’14) took the second place in international team competition. Also, So-eun Lee (major in Taekwondo ’15) won the second place in kicking, and Ah-hyun Lee (major in Taekwondo ’15) was also ranked second in the field of breaking with side of hand.

The department of Taekwondo in Jeonju University is prestigious in Taekwondo performance, since it won the third place in 2015 and the first place in 2016 in the World Taekwondo Hanmadang’s ‘individual competition’ and ‘team competition’ which are known as the main of Taekwondo performance.

Professor Bong-seok Kim (dean of the department of sports coaching) said that “students in Taekwondo stand out every year in the world’s largest competition that 64 countries participate,” and expressed his thought by saying “It seems that the result of the study and the sweat of the students and the professors have paid off.”
