Cooperation of a Community Medical Team Held a Free Treatment for the International Students

On March 17, the office of international affairs in Jeonju university held ‘Free medical service for foreign students’  by cooperating with Bridge Medical Association.

On the same day, including the president of Bridge Medical Association, Sung-nam Chung (Gwangju Top orthopedic), 15 people from medical teams, and  60 students from medical graduate schools and volunteers from medical fields participated to the event. From these experts in the medical field, more than 150 foreign students, who could not receive proper medical treatment due to cost issues, received medical checkups and treatments.

There were a lot of foreign students who were healthy in their own countries but suffered from a sleep disorder, chronic stomachache due to the stress , toothache, skin problem due to lack of immunity, weakened eyesight, malnutrition caused by vulnerable dietary life, backache, and muscle pain while studying hard in the foreign country.

In reality, it provides a medical service to solve the difficulties of foreign students with various medical departments including a dentist, internal medicine, surgery, family medicine, ortho surgery, radiology, dermatology, ear, nose, throat, neuropsychiatry, eye, X-ray, etc.

Yerboll (second grade in Korean), a Mongolian student who started his fifth month in Korea, received treatment for a toothache, and said that it was hard to visit a hospital on my own due to the difficulty of communication, but “I am so glad to get treatment from a kind doctor with translation by senior foreign students.”

The Bridge Medical Association, an international medical volunteering organization, has decided to visit our university every March and September to cooperate in providing medical assistance to foreign students.
